FLOGGING MOLLY-
Swagger (Side One Dummy)
I am surprised that I am able to write this review because I’m
absolutely exhausted. This cd is loaded with more energy and intensity
than a quasar. Flogging Molly incorporates the melodies and beats of
traditional Irish music, the musicianship of The Chieftains, and the
furiousness of punk rock to produce a sound that will floor you quicker
than 15 pints of your favorite ale. The band beautifully blends the unique
sounds of an accordion, fiddle, and a tin whistle along with cool guitars,
a mandolin/banjo, and a Celtic rhythm section that will have you dancing
and festively spilling your Guinness on yourself and those around you. The
music is made more powerful by the brogue heavy vocals of Irishman Dave
King. Trust me when you read that every song on this disc is unbelievable.
Hell, I can’t get “Devil’s Dance Floor” out of my head! If you
like The Pogues or Big Bad Bollocks, you will adore Flogging Molly. Ah, it
is music like this that makes me proud to have Irish blood pumping through
these clogged arteries of mine. This baby is a must own disc! – Denis
