YOUR
VICE IS A LOCKED ROOM AND ONLY I HAVE THE KEY (No
Shame Films) 1972. Giallo 92 Minutes. Not rated.
Lots of brightly colored blood and spectacular boobies are on view
in the classic of the giallo genre. Luigi Pistill plays a failed novelist
haunted by the memories of his dead mother.
He tortures and torments his wife, played by the spectacular Anita
Strindberg, who in turn takes it out on his cat, Satan. Owning more than a
little to Edgar Allen Poe’s ‘The Black Cat’, this giallo takes off
with a bang when the failed writer’s mistress is found slashed to death.
A series of brutal and bloody slaying are triggered by the initial
murder, but who is doing the killing?
Like all good giallo films this one will have you
guessing until the very end and, no I’m not telling you whodunit.
What do you take me for, a crazy person? The soundtrack by Bruno
Nicolai is wonderful and deserves a CD release of its own.
The beautiful Edwige Fenech is a glorious gem to behold in the film
and amazingly holds up really well in her recent interview that is
included on the DVD. No Shame Films once again gives us a gorgeous print
of a wonderful film. The
picture is crisp and clean with a 16x9 widescreen ration remastered from
the original negative. The extras give us interviews with director Sergio
Martini, actress Edwige Fenech and screenwriter Ernesto Gastaldi.
In addition there is a compilation of trailers of other films by
Martino, the mandatory poster and still gallery and a nice collectible
booklet that has become the trademark of a No Shame release. I’m of the
opinion that No Shame Films wants all of our money as they only seem to be
producing top quality DVD’s for us to blow our allowance on. -Douglas A.
