CRANK
YANKERS: Season One Uncensored. Two
DVD set. 253 minutes. Puppets make prank phone calls to other puppets,
and stuff.
Hey,
what more can I write? Do I need to? Airing on Comedy
Central in 2002, these guys prove that prank calls can be taken to a
new level of childish hi-jinx, and I love it! The calls alone are worth
the price of admission, but the sight of the downright goofy puppets makes
the calls all the funnier. Everything seen and heard is uncensored so
don’t expect
Sesame Street
, kid bo’shyt. The set is made up of the ten first season episodes, two
unaired calls, and a mini documentary with cast/creators of Crank Yankers.
The prank voices you hear may sound familiar as most of them are
relatively known; Jimmy Kimmel, Adam Carolla, Sarah Silverman, Kevin
Nealon, Tracy Morgan (use to do a killer Mike Tyson on Sat. Night Live),
and Askew Favorite, Jim
Florentine. I’d say a good 90% of the calls are amusing, with the
funniest being the calls by Florentine (Special ‘Yaay, I’ve got
mail” Ed, Bobby Fletcher). Perhaps the funniest call is when a woman
misdials a UPS number and gets taken on one wild prank, which she
eventually involves her hot headed husband. While watching Crank Yankers,
be sure to pay attention to the puppets’ surroundings; you’ll see some
funny stuff. High brows need not take note. However, if you like goofy
(ok, immature) fun, this set is for you. – Denis “Can’t Figure Out
if Sarah Silverman is Hot or Not” Sheehan
